The Era of Wom*n: Leading during Challenging Times
The Coronavirus Pandemic disrupted all aspects of our lives, at every level. The most traditional academic settings quickly allocated resources to move courses online; faculty and staff became a distributed workforce with students working from home. This hasn’t been easy for anyone and we have learned that life is less about living in an either, or scenarios and more about living with yes, and realities.
The ever consistent rhythm of academia is gone. Financial pressures, never far from the mind of campus leaders, are mounting for the near and long-term. Instruction and campus activities have moved online straining capacity from technology and people. Decisions campus leaders make today will impact higher education for decades to come. With this in mind, the summer 2020 curriculum emphasizes leadership during challenging times.
A crisis is something we fix. It has no permanence. Even though this crisis seems fleeting, a new strategy emerges daily. When the severity of the pandemic ceases, the challenges will remain and leaders will need to move forward with an understanding of what has been and what will be. As wom*n, this is your era to lead! As leaders, this is your era to show up as wom*n.
